Job Description
Staff Accountant II supporting Lifepoint Health’s rehabilitation facilities through general ledger close, reconciliations, and financial analysis. Partnering with facility leadership across a multi-site healthcare network.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary accounting liaison for approximately nine inpatient rehabilitation facilities
- Provide ongoing financial and accounting support to facility leadership
- Manage the end-to-end general ledger close process, including close checklists, journal entries, account reconciliations, post-close review, and required certifications
- Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation
- Perform detailed P&L and balance sheet analysis
- Identify unusual trends or variances and research and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Maintain facility balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, post-close analysis, and periodic reviews
- Partner with hospital and operational leadership to provide financial analysis and explain monthly results and variances
- Collaborate with LBS Technical Accounting and other Finance teams on complex or facility-specific accounting matters
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting activities
- Manage facility-specific accounting and reporting activities, including possible joint venture accounting, regulatory reporting, tax-related filings, escheatment submissions, and licensure renewals
- Ensure appropriate internal controls and accurate, timely, compliant financial reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve and standardize accounting processes
- Manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple facilities during month-end and year-end close
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated responsibility for the financials of multiple facilities, entities, or business units
- Strong general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement analysis
- Demonstrated ability to analyze P&L and balance sheet activity, research variances, and clearly communicate financial results
- Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and financial close requirements simultaneously
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting processes
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned facilities, and proactively identify and resolve accounting issues
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to partner effectively with facility and operational leadership
- Ability and willingness to work additional evening and weekend hours during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close periods as business needs require
- CPA designation preferred, but not required
- Healthcare, hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, or other multi-site accounting experience preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
