Job Description
Staff Accountant supporting AP, general ledger, reconciliations, and close activities at Sift, an AI-powered fraud platform. Maintaining controls, audit support, and accounting process automation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries for non-revenue areas, including prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Post daily cash transactions and perform bank reconciliations
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Own accounts payable end to end and support expense-related accounting
- Help maintain and improve internal controls and documentation
- Assist with schedules and support for external audits and internal reviews
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring accounting processes
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A and Accounting team members on ad hoc requests and analysis
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and strong Excel skills
- Experience with Expense Software (e.g., Navan, Expensify, Brex)
- Experience with Tax Software (e.g., Avalara, Anrok)
- Experience leveraging and customizing AI/LLM tools (e.g., Gemenia, Claude) for day-to-day work, and general fluency with AI-assisted workflows
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Self-starter who takes ownership and is eager to grow into a Senior Accountant role
- Experience with international accounting and IFRS reporting standards is a plus
