Job Description
3D-Scan-Trainer:in für Maschinenbau und Scan-to-CAD bei WBS TRAINING. Vermittlung praxisnaher digitaler Produktentwicklung und Reverse Engineering im virtuellen Klassenzimmer.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering hands-on training in 3D scanning fundamentals, with a focus on mechanical engineering
- Teaching the complete scan-to-CAD process: 3D scan → point cloud → mesh → reverse engineering → CAD model → technical drawing → manufacturing
- Supervising project work based on real-world components
- Integrating current technologies and industrial use cases into lessons
- Supporting participants in confidently applying their knowledge in practice
- Delivering classes in a virtual classroom
Requirements:
- Technical training or degree, e.g. in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying technology
- At least 3 years of practical experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data capture
- In-depth knowledge of various scanning technologies, such as laser, structured-light, and handheld scanners
- Proficiency in working with point clouds, mesh data, and formats including STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP
- Experience preparing and processing scan data for further use
- Practical experience integrating scan data into CAD systems
- Experience with reverse engineering technical components and assemblies
- Good knowledge of technical drawings and engineering fundamentals
- Experience teaching adults or delivering training
- Knowledge of tools such as Artec Studio, Geomagic Design X/Warp, PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene
- Experience with at least one CAD system, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX
- Know-how in metrology, quality requirements, and data evaluation
- Ability to assess scan results in terms of accuracy and suitability for use
- Experience with practical workflows and project-based learning
- Interest in digital twins, digitalization, and scan-to-CAD
- Nice to have: Certifications from scanner or software manufacturers
- Nice to have: Experience in optical metrology or quality assurance
- Nice to have: Knowledge of 3D printing/additive manufacturing
- Nice to have: Experience with mobile mapping, drone scanning, or large-scale scanning projects
- Nice to have: Exposure to AI, BIM, or AR/VR
- Nice to have: Experience delivering online training
- Process-oriented, holistic understanding of the scan-to-CAD workflow
- Ability to explain complex topics clearly, understandably, and with enthusiasm
- Self-directed, structured, and participant-focused approach to work
