Job Description
Vice President of Medical Affairs leading strategies for an ophthalmology-focused biotech company. Overseeing medical affairs initiatives and supporting product launch trajectories.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement medical affairs strategies to support pre-launch and post-launch activities
- Drive scientific dissemination through publications, presentations, and Key Opinion Leader engagement
- Serve as the internal expert on ophthalmic diseases, providing strategic input across Research & Development, regulatory, and commercial functions
- Build and lead cross-functional teams to generate and communicate compelling scientific evidence
- Support successful product launches through strategic medical planning and stakeholder engagement
- Build and mentor a high-performing medical affairs team
- Collaborate with executive leadership to shape corporate strategy and investor communications
- Represent the company at scientific, regulatory, and industry forums
Requirements:
- MA, MS, MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- 15+ years of experience in ophthalmology, with leadership roles in clinical development and medical affairs
- Demonstrated success in supporting product launches
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across medical and commercial functions
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and clinical operations
- The role requires the ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including domestic and possible international trips.
