Job Description

AI Engineer building Cognigy conversational AI, LLM, and API integrations. Supporting Acliviti’s enterprise customer-experience and technical-transformation consulting clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop conversational AI, chatbots, virtual agents, or voice assistants on the Cognigy platform
  • Configure conversational flows, dialogue management, intents, business logic, prompts, and LLMs
  • Implement AI response validation, guardrails, fallback logic, and escalation
  • Optimize AI interactions using performance data and user feedback
  • Develop and consume REST APIs and build JSON, webhook, and event-driven integrations
  • Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems, CRM, ERP, databases, backend applications, and third-party SaaS platforms
  • Work with authentication mechanisms including OAuth, API keys, and tokens
  • Implement AI agents, agentic workflows, RAG, knowledge retrieval, embeddings, and vector database solutions where applicable
  • Work with cloud-based application architectures across AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Use Docker/containerized applications, CI/CD processes, logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting practices
  • Create and execute software, AI, conversational, API, integration, regression, performance, and reliability tests
  • Identify root causes and resolve technical defects
  • Analyze AI and conversation performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Work in Agile/Scrum environments using Jira or similar tools
  • Translate requirements into technical solutions, estimate development effort, and document work
  • Collaborate with Architects, PMs, Product Owners, and client stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Some experience
  • Demonstrated experience with conversational AI, virtual agents, LLMs, APIs, integrations, and software engineering
  • Ability to learn the Cognigy platform quickly
  • Experience designing and developing conversational AI, chatbots, virtual agents, or voice assistants
  • Understanding of conversational flows, dialogue management, intents, and business logic
  • Experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Prompt engineering and LLM configuration
  • Understanding of AI response validation, guardrails, fallback logic, and escalation
  • Experience optimizing AI interactions based on performance and user feedback
  • Strong JavaScript / TypeScript or comparable programming experience
  • Python experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of software development fundamentals
  • Ability to develop and consume REST APIs
  • Experience with JSON, webhooks, and event-driven integrations
  • Experience with Git/GitHub or similar source-control platforms
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience integrating applications with enterprise systems, CRM, ERP, databases, backend applications, and third-party SaaS platforms
  • Understanding of REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, data exchange, OAuth, API keys, and tokens
  • Experience with OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar LLM platforms
  • Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Familiarity with Docker/containerized applications and CI/CD concepts
  • Experience across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments
  • Experience creating and executing software or AI application test cases
  • Conversational AI, API, integration, regression, performance, and reliability testing experience
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Experience with Jira or similar project management tools
  • Ability to translate requirements into technical solutions and work from user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to estimate development effort
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Architects, PMs, Product Owners, and client stakeholders
  • Contact center experience is nice to have, not required
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Availability to work as a 1099 contractor
