Job Description
Analytics Engineer building ETL, analytics, and pricing optimization solutions for Republic Services’ environmental services business. Developing dashboards, machine learning models, and data architecture for data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, maintain, and continuously refine analytics and reporting solutions
- Lead ETL processes, data warehouses, cubes, dashboards, and model deployment
- Lead projects and develop technology road maps
- Design, validate, and evaluate solutions using R, Python, SQL, and other programming tools
- Design and build pricing optimization algorithms and rules-based pricing recommendations
- Design and implement architecture, tools, and processes supporting a single source of truth and self-service analytics
- Develop and manage end-to-end project plans to ensure on-time delivery
- Educate and mentor team members on data, reports, and tools
- Write ETL scripts using SSIS or similar tools to consume and process data into the data warehouse
- Build automated processes using Excel, SQL, and VBA to facilitate data transfer across teams
- Design dashboards and tools for users to consume and interact with data
- Implement in-database machine learning solutions using SQL Server and R/Python
- Maintain system and tool documentation
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Master’s degree
- Bachelor’s Degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics)
- 5 years of demonstrated experience working with relational databases in the context of developing ETL processes and implementing data and analytics solutions
- 5 years of experience maintaining databases and tools in a production environment, including query performance tuning and proactive maintenance
- Demonstrated expertise working with formal software development methodologies
- Demonstrated expertise developing and maintaining pricing optimization and/or operational efficiency algorithms in a cloud computing environment (e.g. AWS) and/or enterprise IT environments
- 5 years of experience with advanced programming in SQL and R or Python, deploying analytics models and tools in a production environment with relational databases
- Proficiency with relational databases and SQL queries
- Proficiency with R or Python in data science and/or engineering settings
- Proficiency with Excel and Power BI
- Proficiency with source control (e.g. GitHub, SVN, Tortoise) in a multi-developer environment
- Proficiency with cloud computing environments (e.g. AWS)
