Job Description
Senior Associate building robust data pipelines and modern data solutions for Fortitude Re, a global legacy reinsurance provider. Optimizing data flows, architectures, automation, and governance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop robust data pipelines
- Implement data transformations
- Provide operational support, runbooks and documentation
- Design and deliver strategic data solutions using modern data engineering principles
- Independently implement and optimize data ingestion/transformation jobs
- Deliver incremental datasets for downstream consumption
- Champion automation and apply DevOps principles in an agile development environment
- Evaluate and improve existing data pipelines
- Recommend future-state architectures that increase scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Collaborate with data platform engineering, data governance, data science, and data analytics/visualization teams
- Support and mentor early career professionals
- Report to the VP or AVP, Data Solutions Engineering
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Science, Engineering or similar field
- Understanding of ETL/ELT, cloud, data operations
- Minimum four years of experience in programming (Python, Julia and/or R)
- Proficient in SQL
- Robust knowledge of data lakes, data governance and modern data quality techniques
- Experience with Databricks and/or Dagster and/or DBT preferred
- Detail-oriented debugging and troubleshooting
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Domain knowledge of Actuarial, Investment, or Finance within Insurance/Reinsurance industry is a plus
