Job Description
Associate Data Scientist supporting Home Depot retail profitability through advanced analytics, modeling, and business insights. Developing data-driven solutions with senior data science teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support data science initiatives driving business profitability, increased efficiencies and improved customer experience
- Develop solutions with Data Scientists and/or Sr. Data Scientists using advanced analytics methods and algorithms
- Design and develop algorithms and models against large datasets to create business insights
- Conduct analysis to solve business problems and execute tasks efficiently and with high quality
- Consult with Data Scientist or Sr. Data Scientist on selection, utilization and interpretation of advanced analytical methodologies
- Learn assigned business areas and incorporate business-specific knowledge into solutions
- Communicate insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
- Support preparation of project reports, updates and presentations
- Highlight potential impacts of recommendations to drive alignment and implementation
- Keep current with industry trends, best practices and emerging methodologies
- Continually develop data analytics skills and identify opportunities to apply learnings
- Report to a manager or above; no direct reports
- No travel required
Requirements:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
- Preferred: Master's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent work experience
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point
- Experience in a modern scripting language, preferably Python
- Experience running queries against data, preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL
- Experience in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
- Experience with data visualization software, preferably Tableau
- Experience utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights
- Basic knowledge or exposure to prescriptive modeling such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP
- Basic knowledge or exposure to predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
