Job Description
Azure Data Lake Specialist designing and implementing scalable data platforms at BCD Meetings & Events. Integrating diverse data sources into a unified data lake and reporting layer.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion pipelines, establishing standards for data ingestion, transformation, and storage
- Integrate data from multiple management and financial systems (batch and streaming)
- Design and implement a modern data platform using Azure (ADLS Gen2-based architecture)
- Define data architecture patterns, including medallion (bronze/silver/gold) layers
- Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory
- Handle diverse data formats (structured, semi-structured)
- Structure and manage data using bronze/silver/gold layers (medallion architecture)
- Optimise data storage, partitioning, and performance
- Integrate ADLS with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics / Databricks, and Power BI and downstream analytics tools
- Implement data governance, security, and access controls (RBAC, IAM, ACLs)
- Ensure data quality, lineage, and metadata management
- Support business teams with data modelling and availability
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot data platform issues
- Define and implement access control (RBAC, ACLs) and data security and compliance standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience designing and implementing Azure data platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Experience integrating ERP and finance systems (SAP highly desirable)
- Strong SQL and Power Query skills and experience working with large datasets
- Experience with data modelling for financial reporting
- Proficiency in Python or Spark (Databricks preferred but not essential)
- Experience building end-to-end data pipelines
- Understanding of data lake vs warehouse vs Lakehouse patterns and financial data structures and reporting requirements.
