Job Description

BI Engineer governing enterprise analytics platforms and delivering dashboards for Guild Mortgage, a mortgage banking firm. Enabling data-driven insights, governance, and self-service reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer enterprise-wide BI and Analytics platforms
  • Collaborate with IT Infrastructure and vendors to maintain BI applications and platforms
  • Configure environments according to best practices
  • Establish platform governance processes and roll them out across the user community
  • Assess data, KPI, and metric needs with business leaders and Product, Data & Technology teams
  • Verify data accuracy and facilitate reuse and consistency
  • Produce live dashboards and reports across multiple delivery platforms, focusing on self-service enablement
  • Analyze available data and KPIs against management needs to define new metrics
  • Maintain metadata and KPI/metric ownership through a stewardship model
  • Analyze data to identify causal relationships, trends, correlations, outliers, and anomalies
  • Reconcile and validate dashboards and reports to ensure high-quality insights
  • Identify process improvements, automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for scalability
  • Maintain access controls for BI platforms, reports, and dashboards
  • Document business continuity, disaster recovery, high availability, and recoverability requirements
  • Mentor less experienced data professionals and share templates, reusable artifacts, and domain knowledge
  • Participate in stakeholder reviews and design sessions
  • Provide data, reports, and information to management
  • Monitor technology-related trends and errors and develop complex solutions and improvements
  • Resolve high-level issues
  • Monitor platform usage, database sizes, compute resources, and third-party costs
  • Champion data transformation and new ways of generating insights
  • Manage communications and partnerships with senior leaders, functional managers, and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related quantitative field required
  • Minimum three to five years' experience in BI Analyst related role(s), including two years in a senior technical level role(s)
  • Proficient with business intelligence platforms, mainly Power BI and Tableau
  • Well versed in MS Azure Services related to BI and Analytics
  • Expert in Power BI Administration and Development with relevant certifications
  • Proficient in configuring and managing enterprise-wide platforms using best practices
  • Proficient in designing and rolling out SDLC processes for BI platforms
  • Proficient in Data Governance, Stewardship, and Metadata Management
  • Proficient in developing reports, dashboards, self-service BI, and visualizations
  • Experience with technical documentation, metadata dictionaries, data validation rules, quality acceptance criteria, SDLC, Agile, and ITILv4 frameworks
  • Expert in SQL
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including AuroraDB, IBM DB2, MemSQL, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, Snowflake, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis, or MongoDB
  • Experience analyzing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Experience with data from internal core systems and third-party providers such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Zillow, CoreLogic, MLS Data, Public Records, and Property Data
  • Experience with Microsoft Office or Google G-Suite, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and work as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead effectively and drive results in a matrixed management environment
