Job Description

Business Intelligence Developer creating SQL-based Medicaid reporting, dashboards, and analysis for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. Supporting data-driven healthcare decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting and data analysis for financial or clinical outcomes, network performance, care management, claims processing, operations, medical costs, utilization, authorization, risk adjustment, and claims data
  • Create sustainable reporting solutions and analytical insights that improve efficiency, drive innovation, and support data-driven decision-making across the Medicaid segment
  • Design and code basic-level queries and datasets using structured programming techniques, reporting platforms, and associated programming languages
  • Monitor, maintain, refresh, and distribute regularly scheduled standard reports and data extracts
  • Participate in small projects of basic complexity
  • Gather requirements with business partners and subject matter experts under mentorship
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboard visualizations using Tableau, Qlik Sense, Power BI, and other BI applications
  • Develop work plans, execute unit test plans, and track and resolve processing issues with mentorship
  • Review code and reporting/analysis for design standards, content, accuracy, functionality, and compliance
  • Create documentation supporting reporting and analysis
  • Participate in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), corporate quality programs, and data governance programs
  • Adhere to source control versioning policies and procedures
  • Implement and maintain operational and disaster-recovery procedures
  • Communicate work status to stakeholders and management
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology-related developments
  • Report to a lead, supervisor, or manager providing general supervision

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience working with data, report development, and analysis in a workplace setting
  • 1 year of experience in query design and effective reporting design structure
  • High-School Diploma or GED in general field of study
  • Intermediate proficiency in T-SQL, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, Visual Studio, SSDT, and Redgate
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL databases, table/view/stored procedure development, query tuning, enterprise data modeling, data normalization, and schema management
  • Knowledge of decision support systems, business intelligence, programming, and data analysis software
  • Knowledge of Qlik Sense, Qlik View, Tableau, and Power BI
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Pivot, external connections, DAX/MDX, and Visual Basic
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Functional proficiency in requirements analysis and gathering, scoping, and project management
  • Basic proficiency in data mining, preferably within a healthcare environment
  • Basic proficiency in general data analysis
  • Functional proficiency with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Functional proficiency in documenting project requirements, development, and status tracking in an IS environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to complete tasks with little supervision, manage large workloads, and prioritize multiple projects under deadlines
  • Ability to write and present business intelligence documentation
  • Knowledge of business requirements development and user acceptance testing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Residency and work performed within the State of Arizona
