Job Description

Remote Clinical Geneticist providing virtual genetic evaluations and consultations for VA Genomic Medicine Program beneficiaries. Ordering and interpreting genetic tests while coordinating treatment recommendations and care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct virtual genetic evaluations and consultations for adult patients
  • Complete approximately 12 new patient consults per week plus 11–12 follow-up visits per week
  • Review medical records and family histories
  • Order appropriate genetic testing and complete laboratory requisitions
  • Interpret genetic test results and communicate findings to patients and providers
  • Develop and communicate treatment and management recommendations
  • Document all encounters in the VA electronic health record within required timeframes
  • Track completion of ordered genetic tests and document non-completed testing
  • Coordinate care with referring providers and VA clinical teams
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, meetings, and case conferences
  • Maintain board certification, CME requirements, and clinical privileges
  • Provide telehealth services to eligible beneficiaries of the VA Genomic Medicine Program nationwide

Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician Geneticist through the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG)
  • Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • No history of suspended, revoked, restricted, or surrendered professional licenses
  • Active AHA BLS certification
  • NPI report printout
  • Active DEA license
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
  • Must have lived continuously in the United States for the past three years prior to appointment at a federal facility
