Job Description

Data Analytics Engineer building BI dashboards, SQL models, and reporting pipelines for SunnyData’s data consulting clients. Translating business needs into reliable, actionable analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, modify, and maintain dashboards and reports in BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Databricks AI/BI
  • Translate business requests submitted through a ticketing system into accurate and actionable data visualizations
  • Ensure consistency in definitions, metrics, and data logic across reports
  • Optimize queries and dashboards for performance and clarity
  • Document logic and assumptions behind key metrics and dashboards
  • Create and maintain database views, derived tables, and other analytical objects
  • Perform data modeling and transformation for reliable downstream reporting
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and validate data accuracy across systems
  • Collaborate on improvements to data structure and warehouse organization
  • Deliver accurate, well-documented dashboards within agreed SLAs
  • Develop clean, reusable SQL objects for long-term reporting needs
  • Improve clarity and consistency in metric definitions
  • Reduce back-and-forth on reporting requests through thoughtful implementation
  • Lead business interactions, define standards, document KPIs and reports, optimize large data models, and support more junior team members
  • Engage with clients to solve challenging data engineering problems

Requirements:

  • Advanced SQL proficiency, including querying, joins, CTEs, aggregations, and window functions
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehouses
  • Experience building dashboards and reports in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Strong attention to detail and data validation practices
  • Experience with dashboard engineering, storytelling, and usability
  • Experience with data modeling and transformation using large datasets
  • Ability to lead business interactions, define standards, document KPIs and reports, optimize large data models, and support junior team members
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field
