Job Description
Internal Fire and Life Safety Auditor for Hyatt's Risk Management team conducting compliance audits and guiding fire safety practices across properties.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct internal Fire Life Safety audits for Hyatt properties
- Verify property compliance with Hyatt’s minimum FLS requirements and local regulatory standards, and oversee adaptations and modifications throughout installation of FLS systems
- Partner with Development, Engineering, and Operations teams to identify and resolve FLS gaps.
- Monitors project schedules, manage construction documents, and confirm project completion. Provide technical guidance to design and construction teams during pre-opening to align with Hyatt’s “gold standard” FLS practices.
- Remain current with emerging technologies, national codes and best methods for automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, life safety, and smoke control
- Collaborate with external Fire Marshals and local authorities as needed to ensure joint sign-off and compliance approval.
- Develop and maintain consistent internal auditing templates, checklists, and reporting standards.
- Identify systemic issues, trends, or recurring FLS nonconformities and communicate these findings to Global Risk and Engineering leadership.
Requirements:
- 10 years of fire protection system inspections experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering combined with minimum 5 years of experience in Fire and Life Safety inspection, audit, or compliance roles (hospitality, construction, or facilities preferred).
- Good working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and the National Fire Protection Association Standards (NFPA)
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- FLS Plan Review experience preferred.
