Job Description
Founding AI Lead building human behavior simulation models for Populix, Indonesia’s market and policy research consultancy. Leading Singapore client deployments, research, and eventual local team scaling.
Responsibilities:
- Build human simulation solutions end-to-end, from ingesting survey/interview data to producing validated models that predict how people think, feel, or respond
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on modeling approaches, prompting/fine-tuning strategies, and evaluation methods
- Work directly with enterprise clients to scope custom use cases and translate research or business needs into working deployments
- Remain hands-on through client delivery
- Advance research on behavioral fidelity, bias and failure modes, evaluation methodology, and model extrapolation beyond training data
- Partner with the core AI/Model team to connect custom client work with the broader platform
- After validating the delivery playbook, hire, build, and lead the team scaling this work across Singapore
- Initially serve as the forward-deployed lead for Populix's Singapore expansion
Requirements:
- PhD (or equivalent research depth) in Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or a related field
- Hands-on expertise in deep learning and LLMs
- Ideally, reinforcement learning expertise
- Ability to rapidly build working prototypes and operate with MVP-level scrappiness in a startup environment
- Deep understanding of LLM/ML inner workings and why models fail
- Comfort working directly with enterprise clients and translating messy requirements into useful deployments
- Strong communication skills, including explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and clients
- Comfortable starting independently with limited structure
- Genuine desire to eventually hire and lead a team
- Nice to have: experience with agent-based simulation, generative/synthetic agents, or synthetic user research
- Nice to have: background in psychometrics, survey methodology, or consumer/market research
- Nice to have: publication record at top ML/NLP venues such as NeurIPS, ACL, ICML, or UIST
- Nice to have: prior early-stage startup or forward-deployed engineering experience
