Job Description
Head of Data leading data strategy and transformation engagements for private equity investors and portfolio companies. Advising executives and turning data opportunities into measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead data engagements for private equity investors and portfolio company leadership teams
- Own senior client relationships and advise CDOs, CTOs and executive teams
- Develop data strategies aligned with business priorities, value creation, capabilities, technology choices, operating models and delivery roadmaps
- Lead complex data transformations from diagnosis through implementation planning
- Address data platform modernisation, governance, quality, data products and analytics initiatives
- Structure ambiguous data challenges, define key questions, build workplans and manage workstreams
- Develop executive-level narratives, practical recommendations and clear decisions
- Translate between commercial and technical audiences while assessing architecture, feasibility and execution risk
- Link data initiatives to opportunity sizing, business cases, investments, benefits, trade-offs and dependencies
- Challenge assumptions and identify where specialist expertise is needed across data engineering, architecture, governance, analytics, AI and transformation
- Drive engagements toward prioritised actions, accountable delivery plans and execution
Requirements:
- Experience comparable to a high-performing consulting Director, Associate Director or Senior Consultant
- Track record of leading complex data engagements and senior client relationships
- Strong consulting toolkit developed in strategy, digital, data or transformation consulting, or comparable high-stakes advisory/transformation experience
- Deep expertise in data strategy and data transformation
- Practical experience with modern data platforms, data architecture, governance, data quality, data products, analytics or AI enablement
- Ability to structure ambiguous business and data problems, develop hypotheses, lead rigorous analysis, manage teams and create executive storylines
- Credibility with CDOs, CTOs, CIOs, CEOs and senior leaders across data, technology, product and transformation
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including opportunity sizing, business cases, benefit quantification, investment analysis and strategic trade-offs
- Experience leading complex data programmes or transformations
- Technical depth to challenge decisions on data architecture, platforms, governance, operating models and delivery approaches
- Hands-on leadership style and ability to guide analysis, challenge team thinking and shape strategy and storyline
- Practical, action-oriented mindset aligned with Crosslake’s values
