Job Description

International fragrance sourcing consultant procuring authentic gray-market products for Scentbird’s fragrance subscription service. Vetting global suppliers, negotiating terms, and managing compliant imports.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and vet international wholesalers, exporters, and parallel-market distributors selling genuine full-size fragrance
  • Build direct supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities, and payment terms
  • Confirm product authenticity and traceability, including counterfeit risk and trademark/import compliance
  • Manage the full sourcing cycle from supplier discovery and sampling through quality checks, purchase orders, and logistics coordination
  • Track customs records, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other import documentation
  • Monitor international pricing trends and excess/closeout inventory to identify deals
  • Partner with Quality to inspect incoming products for damage, mislabeling, or specification issues
  • Maintain supplier scorecards covering reliability, pricing, lead times, and red flags
  • Monitor trademark disputes and legal actions involving gray-market fragrance distributors and flag risks
  • Report to the COO and collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, and Legal

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in international sourcing, procurement, or supply chain
  • Ideally experience in fragrance, beauty, or CPG
  • Direct experience with gray-market or parallel-import sourcing
  • Network of, or ability to quickly build relationships with, international fragrance wholesalers and exporters
  • Comfort reading customs and trade data, including bills of lading and import/export records
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts across currencies and time zones
  • Working knowledge of trademark and parallel-import law for consumer goods
  • Willingness to travel internationally to meet suppliers and inspect goods
  • Nice to have: relationships with fragrance wholesalers in Dubai, Europe, or Singapore
  • Nice to have: experience in fragrance subscription, discount beauty, or off-price retail
  • Nice to have: a second language such as Arabic or Dutch
