Job Description
Medical Coding Educator providing coding and billing education at City of Hope to improve healthcare practices and outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provides educational and physician support for coding and billing practices.
- Obtains, interprets, analyzes and communicates information regarding physician reimbursement legislation and third party regulations.
- Provides continuing education in coding and billing of specialty services and third party regulations.
- Acts as a liaison between coding personnel and other staff groups.
- Focuses on potential documentation improvement opportunities and issues by specialty for E&M, surgical, and ancillary clinicians.
- Creates and tailors educational modules for various medical professionals.
- Trains new providers and faculty staff on coding practices.
- Reviews remittance advises for rejection resolution and training opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience may substitute for education requirement.
- 6 years of related experience in a healthcare setting.
- Certified Professional Coder with active AAPC membership, or CCS-P with active AHIMA membership.
