Job Description
Medical Coding Quality Analyst auditing and educating coders for Lifepoint Health’s community-based healthcare network. Ensuring accurate coding, documentation compliance and client-specific billing standards.
Responsibilities:
- Apply appropriate coding classification standards and guidelines to medical record documentation for accurate coding
- Perform quality assessments of records, including verification of electronic and handwritten medical record documentation
- Assess coders’ completed work to validate that standards are met
- Educate coders and other staff on appropriate coding guidelines
- Research errors or missing documentation to support accurate coding processes
- Abstract and assign ICD-10, HCPCS/CPT codes and Level I and Level II modifiers for diagnoses and procedures in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Develop and maintain processes and procedures for assigned clients covering system use, billing/coding rules and client-specific guidelines
- Manage time to meet client and department deadlines
- Collaborate regularly with the Department Manager and other staff in a team environment
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and laws
- Work closely with the Centralized Coding Unit and PSRI vendor partners
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
- 5 years of medical abstract coding/auditing Pro-Fee experience required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in coding audit or quality review work required
- Auditing Certification through AAPC (CPMA) required
- Additional certifications or eligibility: CPC, CEMC, CRC, CPB, specialty certification, CCS-P or RHIT
- Must be work authorized in the United States without employer sponsorship
- Availability to work Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm in the employee’s time zone
