Job Description
Medical Director scaling Counsel Health’s AI-native primary care medical group. Managing physicians, launching clinical programs, and continuing asynchronous patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Directly manage W-2 and 1099 physicians providing asynchronous acute, primary, and longevity care
- Continue seeing patients approximately 30% of the time
- Partner with the VP of Care Delivery and VP of Clinical Operations
- Scale and lead a high-performing medical group
- Inspire, develop, and retain clinicians
- Set expectations and maintain high quality standards
- Build a culture of clinical excellence and accountability
- Lead physician meetings and initiatives that improve engagement and retention
- Build and launch scalable clinical programs
- Collaborate with Product and AI teams to design programs and clinical workflows
- Drive clinical and operational excellence alongside Clinical Operations
- Navigate complex cases and make or escalate clinical decisions
- Use frontline patient-care experience to shape physician leadership and care delivery
Requirements:
- Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
- Meaningful experience providing longitudinal patient care
- 3+ years of post-residency clinical practice (5+ preferred)
- Experience managing chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, weight management, and metabolic health
- Direct physician management experience, including coaching, performance management, and delivering difficult feedback
- Three or more years of physician management experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience considered
- Currently practicing medicine or provided direct patient care within the past three months
- 10+ active U.S. state medical licenses and willingness to obtain additional licenses
- Virtual care experience
- Strong written communication skills
- Comfort with asynchronous, messaging-based care
- Board-certified physician currently residing in and licensed to practice medicine in the United States
