Job Description

Medical Science Liaison guiding oncologists through emerging oncology evidence across Ontario West. Supporting AstraZeneca’s pharmaceutical research, clinical trials, and treatment innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead balanced, objective scientific discussions with healthcare professionals about new and emerging data, including benefits and risks
  • Engage experts as scientific consultants in advisory boards, speaker programs, and clinical trials aligned with strategic priorities
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with healthcare professionals demonstrating scientific excellence
  • Provide regional insights into clinical practice patterns, key issues, and trends to inform medical plans and evidence generation
  • Act as a regional field-based subject matter expert in product lifecycle management within assigned therapeutic areas
  • Use scientific exchange to identify research opportunities with healthcare professionals and connect them to the Medical Advisor through the Externally Sponsored Research process
  • Equip priority clinical sites with relevant molecule and disease expertise near site initiation
  • Collaborate with clinical operations to support timely site activation and patient recruitment meeting study timelines
  • Serve as a trusted scientific partner to oncologists, translating emerging data into clinical treatment decisions

Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively synthesize and communicate scientific information at a peer level with a physician
  • Previous experience as a healthcare professional (PharmD, MD) or scientific expertise including PhD or MSc
  • Two or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a physician-facing role
  • Excellent ability to learn and capacity for scientific concepts and knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • Expert knowledge of the healthcare environment, including Opinion Leaders, Academia, and the Medical Community
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally
  • Experience in oncology, particularly gastrointestinal cancers, preferred
