Job Description
Overnight remote PMHNP delivering virtual psychiatric consultations for University of Maryland hospital facilities. Managing ED evaluations, inpatient cross-coverage, dispositions, paperwork, and admission orders.
Responsibilities:
- Provide virtual psychiatric consults for emergency departments across covered University of Maryland Capital Region Health sites
- Conduct prompt, comprehensive virtual psychiatric evaluations for emergency department patients
- Determine appropriate level of care, including inpatient admission versus safe ED discharge
- Coordinate treatment plans directly with requesting ED providers
- Complete voluntary and involuntary commitment paperwork with ED providers
- Enter initial admission orders for patients entering the inpatient unit at Capital Region Medical Center
- Provide inpatient behavioral health unit cross-coverage at CRMC
- Respond to secure text messages and nursing requests, including medication orders
- Collaborate with Hospital Medicine and other specialties on complex patient care
- Maintain clinical turnaround times and documentation standards in Epic
Requirements:
- Active Maryland state PMHNP license in good standing
- Comfort and proficiency with EMR systems; Epic experience highly preferred
- Proficiency with telehealth platforms
- Strong decision-making skills in high-acuity emergency and inpatient psychiatric settings
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) qualification
- Ability to work overnight shifts from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM
- Average patient volume of 3–5 telepsychiatry consults per night
