Job Description
Power BI Developer creating validated, secure dashboards for Air Force and government workloads. Building Power BI models, KPIs, testing, documentation, and user training.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and sustain interactive Power BI dashboards for the HQ AFRC/A4 Flying Hours Project and authorized portfolio workloads
- Analyze requirements, user stories, existing artifacts, data models, and stakeholder feedback to define dashboard and KPI requirements
- Build and maintain Power BI semantic models, relationships, calculated columns, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, and report-level security/configuration
- Create executive visualizations, KPI scorecards, trends, drill-down/drill-through paths, exception indicators, filters, and user-centered navigation
- Validate source-to-dashboard lineage, data definitions, refresh behavior, and data/visual consistency with the Senior Data Engineer / Integration Lead
- Perform functional testing, broken-link checks, refresh validation, usability testing, performance optimization, and automated UAT execution
- Reconcile report outputs to authoritative Government data and document validation results, assumptions, and exceptions
- Maintain .pbix configuration packages, design standards, report inventories, KPI definitions, data dictionaries, user guides, administrator guides, and training materials
- Prepare training materials and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions
- Support Agile planning, backlog refinement, sprint demonstrations, defect triage, release readiness, and user-feedback prioritization
- Monitor dashboard functionality, refresh status, performance, issues, and availability; support corrections and documentation updates
- Contribute to the Portfolio Onboarding Protocol
- Safeguard CUI and Government-furnished equipment using authorized systems, tools, VPN/VDI connectivity, and repositories
Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship required
- Able to complete a Tier 1 background investigation
- Able to obtain and maintain CAC and required logical access within 15 calendar days after contract start
- Able to handle CUI in Government-authorized environments
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, computer science, business analytics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may substitute for a degree
- Five or more years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, dashboard development, reporting modernization, or related roles
- Advanced experience designing and delivering interactive Microsoft Power BI dashboards
- Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Service, Power Query, DAX, data modeling, report design, dashboard performance optimization, and end-user visualization practices
- Experience conducting data validation, report testing, reconciliation, and user acceptance testing
- Experience preparing technical documentation, dashboard configuration artifacts, user guides, and training materials
- Ability to translate stakeholder questions and business rules into measurable KPIs, intuitive visualizations, and traceable data requirements
- Preferred: Experience with Palantir Foundry, Air Force/DoD or complex operational-data dashboards, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Power BI Premium, SharePoint Online, Government cloud tenants, data pipelines, SQL, data lineage, dimensional/semantic modeling, integration testing, and CUI environments
