Job Description
Principal Data Architect designing data platforms, models, and pipelines for Endava’s technology consulting clients. Translating business needs into scalable analytics and cloud architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data consumption and use
- Provide guidance on appropriate data platforms, repositories, and databases
- Map data attributes between different domain models
- Develop, analyze, prioritize, and organize requirement specifications, data mappings, diagrams, data models, and flowcharts for developers and testers
- Deploy and troubleshoot application data pipelines across legacy and modern architectural environments, including application servers, queues, API gateways, databases, and cloud-based equivalents
- Work closely with technical leads, developers, the client solutions team, and client stakeholders
- Participate as a contributor in agile/scrum ceremonies
- Consult with clients and discuss solutions
- Review existing codebases and processes and refactor them for improvement
Requirements:
- Typically has 5+ years of experience with varied technical experience in designing/developing data pipelines and data stores
- Demonstrated experience designing data architecture(s) for Business Intelligence/Analytical usage
- Understanding of data modeling and data mapping
- Experience with Data Warehouse and Data Mart
- Experience with TFS, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SSIS, Power BI
- Extensive experience with SQL
- Extensive experience with relational and non-relational database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL Server, GraphQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, PostgresSQL, Redis, ElastiCache, etc.)
- Experience in ETL (AWS Glue, Azure DataFactory, Apache NiFi, etc.)
- Experience with a variety of data systems and performance tuning approaches
- Knowledge of architectural principles like hub and spoke, bus, event driven software architectures, etc.
- Working knowledge of Data Science technology stacks
- Working knowledge of BI data analytical products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong ability to review existing codebases/processes and refactor for improvement vs starting over
- Strong problem solver
- Professional presence
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Consulting experience
- Working knowledge of Big data on cloud platforms (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, AWS, RDS Oracle, or RedShift)
- Python or Powershell scripting experience
- Participation in both internal meetings and external meetings via video calls, as necessary
- Ability to go into corporate or client offices to work onsite, as necessary
- For positions that require business travel and/or event attendance, a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required
