Job Description

Provider support specialist assisting North Carolina healthcare providers with enrollment, claims, EHR, NCTracks, and network questions. Maintaining provider records, databases, and Helpdesk communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle calls from providers and answer questions about network joining, contracts, enrollment, billing, member information, EHR navigation, claims submissions, authorization requests, onboarding, technology platforms, and NCTracks
  • Provide coverage of the Provider Network Helpdesk phone within department expectations
  • Guide providers through credentialing initiation during network expansion
  • Assist providers with EHR and other portal platforms
  • Respond to written and email information requests
  • Help providers navigate the provider handbook, Alliance website, forms lists, and other resources
  • Troubleshoot basic IT issues, including password resets and changes
  • Respond to questions regarding claims and utilization management requirements
  • Research agency procedures, software, and agency contacts to answer complex provider questions
  • Identify and report Helpdesk request and communication trends to the Supervisor
  • Contact providers regarding EHR calendar use and agency listing maintenance
  • Maintain departmental resources and provide administrative support
  • Maintain provider specialty lists and the departmental Agency Listing
  • Maintain the insurance tracking database, current availability, and provider contract status
  • Document work in supported software to meet oversight-agency expectations
  • Screen and route materials; provide receptionist and telephone services
  • Proofread documents as requested
  • Monitor and complete tasks related to incoming department-inbox emails

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of office experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Business or a closely related field
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Knowledge of computerized record-keeping techniques
  • Knowledge of and experience with records, reports and file maintenance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficient with grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
  • Ability to read, interpret and disseminate information regarding state laws, rules, regulations and policies related to enrollment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in working with confidential or sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently with little direction
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Must work schedules covering the Provider Helpdesk, Monday through Saturday, 7AM to 6:30PM, including holidays
