Job Description

Sales Development Representative building qualified K-12 sales pipeline for Newsela’s AI-powered education technology. Researching districts, conducting outreach, qualifying leads, and partnering with Account Executives.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, prospect, and qualify leads through high-volume calls and emails to build pipeline for Account Executives
  • Drive outbound prospecting through strategic email cadences and targeted daily phone outreach to school decision-makers
  • Uncover and qualify district needs through consultative conversations
  • Transition high-potential leads into qualified opportunities for the Strategic Sales team
  • Partner with a dedicated Account Executive to align territory strategy, coordinate outreach, and book introductory meetings
  • Collaborate with the Sales organization to improve sales strategy and processes
  • Represent Newsela and its education technology solutions as the initial point of contact with prospects
  • Review calls with the SDR team, share best practices, and refine talk tracks and personalized email outreach
  • Use data insights and maintain CRM data hygiene to track cadences, prioritize active leads, and manage the pipeline

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in K-12 education OR 1+ year of inside sales experience, with a proven track record of engaging prospects to secure qualified meetings
  • Ability to research regions, act as a territory expert, track account activity, and manage hundreds of school accounts across designated states
  • Intellectual curiosity and adaptability; willingness to seek feedback, master Newsela’s full product suite, and refine approach daily
  • High intrinsic drive, excellent time management and organization, and proactive management of daily responsibilities
  • Familiarity with sales platforms such as Salesforce, Salesloft, and/or Outreach.io
  • Strong communication skills and ability to empathize with K-12 buyers and translate insights into compelling value propositions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and use creativity when partnering with team members
  • Experience using AI tools to drive efficiency and productivity
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Successful completion of a background check
