Job Description
SAP ABAP developer building and supporting custom SAP reports, programs, forms, and enhancements. Translating business requirements into technical solutions for an IT services company.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, enhance, and support ABAP reports and custom programs based on business requirements
- Work extensively with SAP Data Dictionary objects
- Develop reports using internal tables, work areas, field symbols, loops, modularization, and database operations
- Develop and enhance ALV reports using appropriate ALV frameworks
- Work on SAP forms, including Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, and Adobe Forms
- Analyze existing custom programs and perform modifications, enhancements, and bug fixes
- Debug ABAP programs to identify root causes and resolve functional and technical issues
- Follow coding, naming, documentation, and development best practices
- Collaborate with functional consultants to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, defect resolution, and production support
- Prepare technical specifications and documentation
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams during development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of ABAP programming concepts, debugging, error handling, and performance considerations
- Extensive experience with SAP Data Dictionary (DDIC) objects, including tables, structures, data elements, domains, views, search helps, and table types
- Experience developing reports using internal tables, work areas, field symbols, loops, modularization, and database operations
- Hands-on experience with Function Modules, subroutines, methods, and other modularization techniques
- Experience developing and enhancing ALV reports using appropriate ALV frameworks
- Experience with SAP forms, including Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, and Adobe Forms
- Experience analyzing and modifying existing custom programs, performing enhancements and bug fixes
- Experience with ABAP debugging to identify root causes and resolve functional/technical issues
- Knowledge of coding standards, naming conventions, documentation standards, and development best practices
- Ability to work with functional consultants to understand requirements and convert them into technical solutions
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, defect resolution, and production support
- Ability to prepare technical specifications and development documentation
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams during development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support
