Job Description
Senior AI/ML Engineer building reliable LLM agents, evaluation systems, and APIs for Recare’s digital healthcare coordination platform. Protecting health data while guiding production AI strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Build robust chat and generative AI applications on agentic frameworks
- Design and optimize agent behavior, including routing, tool calls, context management, grounding, and instruction-following
- Ensure AI outputs remain drafts until released by a clinician
- Measure agentic-system value through observability data, custom evaluation metrics, and user feedback
- Improve prompts, models, and system design based on evaluation results
- Set up and improve logging, tracing, metrics, dashboards, and prompt management
- Develop and maintain infrastructure that deploys AI agents into REST APIs and web UIs
- Handle containerization, orchestration, and API development
- Embed security best practices and uphold compliance to protect sensitive health information
- Track new AI developments and turn promising approaches into production-ready implementations
- Own key AI initiatives end to end across products
- Mentor engineers and help shape AI technical strategy
- Work with product and business stakeholders to turn open questions into clear recommendations
Requirements:
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience, with a strong AI/ML background, at senior level or above
- Hands-on experience designing, shipping, and operating LLM-powered products, including RAG and agents, in live production
- Experience productionizing traditional ML systems or LLM systems
- Hands-on experience with LLM evaluation, including golden datasets, LLM-as-a-judge, offline and online metrics
- Experience systematically improving prompts and models
- Solid deep learning experience applied to real-world problems
- Strong coding skills across the stack
- Comfortable with Python, Go, GitHub Actions, and AWS
- Proficiency in Python and at least one web framework such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask
- Experience with security and privacy practices, including PII redaction, LLM guardrails, and GDPR compliance
- Experience leading, mentoring, and supporting other engineers
- Experience shaping technical direction and making recommendations to product and business stakeholders
- Clear communication in English with technical and non-technical people
- Ability to explain complex topics simply and collaborate across teams
- Solution-driven mindset with thorough problem analysis and resolution
- Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech is nice to have
- Experience with AI products certified as medical devices is ideally included in regulated-industry experience
- German language skills are nice to have
- Legally authorized to work in Germany/the EU
