Job Description

Machine Learning Engineer building autonomous agents, voice AI, and probabilistic models for AssessFirst’s HR Tech recruitment platform. Deploying reliable, fair systems with Product, Science, and MLOps teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy the AI systems at the heart of AssessFirst’s products.
  • Develop autonomous AI agents capable of managing an end-to-end recruitment process, from sourcing through qualification and the creation of a documented shortlist.
  • Improve voice AI and conversational interviews by working on latency, turn-taking, and robustness across accents and noisy environments.
  • Develop tools to analyze recruiter-candidate conversations, generate summaries, and provide real-time assistance.
  • Structure information from resumes, portfolios, and transcriptions.
  • Design and train scoring, classification, and probabilistic modeling systems in collaboration with psychometricians.
  • Build evaluation frameworks and measure model performance, fairness, and robustness before and after production deployment.
  • Deploy and monitor systems with the MLOps team.
  • Design reusable services and share advances in voice AI, agentic AI, and multimodal AI.
  • Collaborate with ML Engineers, psychometricians, Product Managers, Tech, back-end, front-end, and QA teams.
  • Report directly to the Chief Product Officer and Team Lead.

Requirements:

  • You have proven experience in ML Engineering, with AI models and systems that you have personally helped deploy to production.
  • You are proficient in Python (modern, typed, and asynchronous), software engineering best practices, and end-to-end ML solution development, from data preparation through training and evaluation.
  • You are comfortable with the AWS ecosystem, particularly SageMaker, Lambda, and Kubernetes.
  • You have experience in voice AI (ASR, TTS) or in developing real-time conversational agents.
  • You know how to design and evaluate AI agents or complex systems.
  • You have a strong foundation in statistics, particularly probabilistic modeling, calibration, and rigorous model evaluation.
  • Experience with causal inference, experimentation, or ML fairness is a strong plus.
  • You can explain and defend your technical decisions, including to non-technical stakeholders.
  • You are curious, pragmatic, and mindful of AI’s impact on people.
  • You use AI tools daily (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or equivalent tools).

Benefits:

  • Autonomy & flexibility: Organize your work freely based on current priorities and projects.
  • Fully remote: Work from anywhere in Europe!
  • Meal vouchers: €10 per working day on a Swile card.
  • Health insurance: Health coverage through Alan.
  • Savings & profit-sharing: Employee savings and profit-sharing plans.
  • Well-being: Support for sports activities, gift vouchers, and access to a benefits platform.
  • Coworking: Access to shared workspaces up to five times a month through Worklib.
  • Team life: A strong culture and four company retreats per year to reconnect in person.
  • We provide every employee with the equipment they need to perform at their best.
  • Everyone also has access to an annual budget of €3,000 to enable them to meet up with colleagues whenever needed.
