Job Description
Android Engineer building customer-facing apps for Owlet smart devices. Collaborating with cross-discipline teams to innovate and enhance user experience.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build customer-facing apps for the Android platform
- Own tasks end-to-end with a proactive, solution-driven mindset in a fast-paced environment.
- Architect modular, reusable code
- Collaborate with the product team to define, design, and ship new features
- Write clean code and comprehensive tests
- Work with outside data sources and APIs
- Work on bug fixing and improving app performance
- Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technology
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in a computer oriented field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of work experience
- Deep understanding of Android paradigms
- Passion for Kotlin
- Experience with collaborative source control, preferably Git
- Experience developing feature-rich Android apps
- Highly collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to rapidly iterate from prototype to shipping product
- Solid understanding of memory management
- Familiarity with instrumentation and analysis tools
- Comfortable with Test-Driven Development, Continuous Build and Integration methodologies
- You are upbeat, adaptable, and results oriented with a positive attitude
- You have excellent judgment and integrity with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Proven ability to take ownership, solve problems proactively, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
- Preferred: experience developing apps for IoT devices, especially Bluetooth devices
- Preferred: experience working within a larger product team
- Bonus: experience/interest with YAML, Gradle, structured concurrency, Jetpack Compose, and Kotlin Multiplatform
