Job Description
Senior Data Engineer migrating Hadoop/Hive workflows into Snowflake for Keyrus, an international AI and data consulting group. Designing scalable cloud data platforms and automated migration processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration of data workflows from Hadoop/Hive environments into Snowflake
- Design and implement a scalable Migration Factory to industrialise and automate migration processes
- Develop and optimise Dataiku workflows supporting data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and automation
- Design and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines
- Analyse existing data solutions and identify optimisation and performance-improvement opportunities
- Implement scalable, high-performing Snowflake architectures with security, governance, and operational excellence
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge transfer, and engineering best practices across projects
Requirements:
- Relevant academic background in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Proven experience delivering data migration programmes, ideally within Lift & Shift initiatives
- Strong experience with modern data warehousing and data platform technologies
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Professional proficiency in English
- Professional proficiency in French
- Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or have a work permit for Portugal
- Strong expertise with Snowflake, including data modelling, optimisation, performance tuning, and security
- Hands-on experience with Dataiku or equivalent tools (Alteryx, Talend, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Knime, Apache NiFi)
- Strong experience with Hadoop, Hive, and legacy-to-cloud migration projects
- Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and analytical databases
- Proficiency in big data frameworks such as Apache Spark, or alternatives (Databricks, Flink, Beam)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Nice to have: experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Nice to have: programming experience with Python or Scala
- Nice to have: knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data engineering
- Nice to have: understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Security best practices
- Nice to have: experience working in consulting or client-facing environments
- Nice to have: exposure to international projects and multicultural teams
