Job Description
Senior Data Engineer building scalable cloud data platforms and pipelines for Tieto Tech Consulting, a digital accelerator combining business design with software engineering. Advising customers and delivering data-driven solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and business-focused data solutions
- Develop governance structures and access control concepts
- Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines using Databricks or similar technologies
- Manage and enhance CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
- Implement containerization and orchestration
- Act as a trusted technical advisor and sparring partner for customers
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions
- Monitor and optimize data workflow performance, scalability, and reliability
- Stay current with data engineering trends and apply innovative solutions to complex challenges
- Continuously learn from and mentor colleagues within an agile, end-to-end development approach
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing scalable data solutions, platforms, and data integration interfaces
- Strong expertise in data modeling, including dimensional modeling and normalization/denormalization
- Proven experience with cloud-based data platforms; Azure preferred, with AWS or GCP also welcome
- Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and architectural patterns such as Medallion
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- Solid software engineering mindset
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, orchestration, and modern development practices
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Consulting mindset with a customer-centric approach
- Fluency in German at C1 level and English for stakeholder discussions
- Passion for emerging technologies and continuous learning in the data and AI landscape
- High level of ownership and self-motivation
- Ability to quickly learn new topics and constructively challenge the status quo
- Valid certifications in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and MS Azure are a strong advantage
