Job Description

Senior Data Engineer building data contracts and Delta Sharing for JLL’s enterprise real estate data platform. Enabling governed, self-service access for analytics, reporting, and product teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and rollout of data contracts defining schema, quality, and ownership expectations
  • Own the end-to-end build of Delta Sharing capabilities for secure, governed data access without physical duplication
  • Build automated validation and quality checks enforcing contract compliance at ingestion and consumption points
  • Drive adoption of data contract and sharing standards across engineering teams
  • Design shared, versioned data models and access patterns
  • Integrate capabilities into JLL's Enterprise Data Platform and existing ingestion, storage, and API frameworks
  • Design and build services and interfaces for dataset discovery, requests, and self-service consumption
  • Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers
  • Act as the initial subject matter expert for the data consumption team
  • Build automated test suites validating contract enforcement, data lineage, and sharing reliability at scale
  • Partner with data producers, platform architects, and business stakeholders
  • Produce technical documentation and onboarding materials

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience, including at least one large-scale or complex implementation delivered end-to-end
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Python and SQL
  • Hands-on experience designing and optimizing data pipelines in a cloud environment; Azure preferred
  • Direct experience with data contracts, schema governance, or data quality enforcement in a production data platform
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Delta Sharing, or comparable data-sharing/lakehouse technologies
  • Strong PySpark experience, including performance optimization and troubleshooting via Spark UI
  • Experience designing and building API services for data access or integration
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers and acting as a technical point of contact within a team
  • Comfort working across scrum teams and collaborating with engineering and business stakeholders
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Preferred: Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, or similar data catalog and governance tooling
  • Preferred: Familiarity with data mesh principles and federated data ownership models
  • Preferred: Experience with Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, or other Azure-native data integration services
  • Preferred: Background in commercial real estate, enterprise data platforms, or B2B SaaS data products
  • Preferred: Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows
