Job Description
Data Engineer maintaining ETL pipelines and data quality for Cotiviti’s healthcare data operations. Supporting scalable ingestion, warehousing, governance, and production data delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee ETL processes to provide accurate and timely data across products
- Maintain data pipelines on a proprietary big data processing platform and ensure data delivery SLAs are met
- Maintain data engineering processes using T-SQL, Spark, Scala, and shell scripting
- Focus on data ingestion for healthcare data management, data validation, statistical report generation, and program validation
- Develop, support, and improve scalable data ingestion processes and optimize query performance
- Implement data validation and quality checks to maintain data integrity
- Perform troubleshooting, data analysis, data mining, investigations, and root-cause analysis
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions
- Work with Technical Operations to troubleshoot complex database, OS, storage, and server issues
- Provide off-hours support for production issues when necessary
- Develop data transformation specifications for loading source data into target data warehouse tables
- Support data governance policies and security measures for sensitive information
- Create and maintain dashboards as needed
- Participate in client and stakeholder meetings
- Complete productivity tracking and task assignments through the department ticketing system
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties
- Achieve organizational and individual goals identified in performance reviews and goal-setting exercises
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of working knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL, Vertica, etc.) and experience using SQL, PL/SQL or other data integration/ETL tools
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or a related field
- 2-4 years’ experience with data aggregation, standardization, linking, quality check mechanisms, and reporting
- 2-4 years’ experience with big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark
- Proficiency designing and developing solutions involving relational databases, ETL tools, and data warehousing concepts
- Solid understanding of Linux environments
- Strong knowledge of shell scripting and file systems
- Knowledge of US healthcare data is a plus
- Ability to analyze data accurately, identify root causes, and troubleshoot data-related issues
- Experience with coding principles and best practices for developing and deploying code for data manipulation and automation
- Experience in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Scala or Powershell
- Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality, and data lifecycle management is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Flexible work schedule
