Job Description
Senior Engineering Manager leading member-facing software squads at Omada Health, a virtual chronic-care provider. Shipping code, developing engineering leaders, and setting AI-assisted development standards.
Responsibilities:
- Own delivery across multiple squads through sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, and estimation
- Decide capacity allocation when squads compete for the same resources
- Own and improve cycle time without sacrificing quality
- Ship production work every sprint on directly managed squads
- Review architecture, identify weak designs, and support incident response
- Partner with Product Strategists to align scope, delivery, cost, and timing
- Develop managers and grow engineers into technical or engineering leadership roles
- Plan future headcount, skill mix, and onboarding paths
- Define, teach, and measure AI-assisted development standards across engineering
- Identify, organize, and close cross-functional engineering problems
Requirements:
- 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years managing engineers directly
- Experience developing another leader: a manager who reported to you, or an engineer you grew into a tech lead or EM role with real accountability attached
- A track record shipping mission-critical software to production, and living with it afterwards
- Experience owning prioritization and estimation for a team, including saying no, not now, and explaining why
- Experience giving direct developmental feedback, and at least one case where you managed someone through underperformance with real support attached
- Currently shipping, or recently shipping, production code in at least one layer of the stack: backend (Ruby, Python, ...), web frontends (React), iOS, or Android, with enough range to follow the conversation in the others and review architecture decisions critically
- Comfort with an expert-generalist team model
- Hands-on experience directing AI agents through real-world production changes
- Understanding of CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and telemetry
- Excellent written communication
- Experience with technologies including Ruby on Rails, Python, React, native iOS (Swift, SwiftUI), native Android (Kotlin), PostgreSQL, GraphQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Datadog, and PagerDuty
