Job Description
Senior Field Application Engineer developing proof-of-concept applications for IoT solutions. Supporting sales and engineering teams with customer engagements across EMEA region.
Responsibilities:
- Understand customer business and application requirements; provide pre-sales technical and design support with prospective customers and partners over the phone, via email, and in person
- Design and develop proof-of-concept applications to demonstrate product capabilities
- Build and deploy containerised applications on Digi devices using the Digi Remote Manager and LXC
- Act as liaison between the Sales Team and Engineering, Technical Support, Product Marketing, and Product Management
- Provide customer training programmes and technical sales presentations as required
- Set up, test, and replicate customer hardware, software, networking, and application issues in a lab environment
- Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with customer and partner contacts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technology discipline, or 4–6 years of equivalent relevant experience
- Solid, hands-on Linux skills
- Strong knowledge of networking LAN/WAN principles, topologies, and protocols
- Practical experience with cellular connectivity (4G LTE and 5G), including concepts such as SIM management, signal diagnostics, carrier failover, and WAN bonding
- Familiarity with serial protocols (RS-232/485, Modbus or similar)
- Experience developing or scripting applications — Python, shell scripting, or similar
- Understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker, LXC, or equivalent)
- Strong communication and presentation skills in both English and German
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the EMEA region
