Job Description
Senior Infrastructure Engineer operating VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, and vSphere platforms for ITTConnect’s managed-services client. Leading virtualization operations, incidents, automation, upgrades, and migrations remotely across LATAM.
Responsibilities:
- Operate NSX, including segments, distributed firewall policy, gateways, load balancing, and east-west/north-south traffic troubleshooting
- Manage ESXi host, vCenter, and vSAN lifecycle, including patching, firmware alignment, certificate management, and capacity planning
- Diagnose and resolve compute, storage, and virtual network performance and availability problems through root cause
- Serve as technical lead during platform-level incidents and coordinate with clients, internal teams, and Broadcom or hardware vendor support
- Administer KVM-based or Hyper-V environments and support workload migrations between hypervisors
- Automate recurring operations using scripting and vSphere and NSX APIs
- Write root cause analyses, execute structured change management, and maintain documentation of baselines, designs, and tuning decisions
- Lead technical delivery of virtualization upgrades, consolidations, and migrations
- Provide client status reporting, capacity guidance, and best-practice recommendations
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with storage, network, and service desk teams
- Work within the Managed Services team to own operation and health of client virtualization platforms, supported by a global network operations center for monitoring and triage
Requirements:
- 12+ years in infrastructure engineering
- At least 4 years administering enterprise VMware environments
- Fluent in English
- Hands-on administration of VMware Cloud Foundation 9 or vSphere Foundation 9 including NSX, or deep vSphere 8 administration with aptitude to certify on VCF 9 in the first year
- Working knowledge of NSX operation, including overlay segments, distributed firewall, Tier-0 and Tier-1 gateways, and traffic troubleshooting
- Strong Windows and Linux server administration related to guest OS, drivers, and tools lifecycle
- Understanding of storage and networking layers, including shared storage protocols, VLANs, MTU, routing, and multipathing
- Automation ability using AI tooling, PowerCLI, Python, or equivalent scripting, and platform APIs
- Experience writing formal root cause analyses and working within structured change management
- Clear client-facing communication and ability to work independently across multiple client environments
- Prior MSP or multi-client experience preferred
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- VMware certifications such as VCP-VCF Administrator, VCP-DCV, VCP-NV, or comparable virtualization certification preferred
- Hands-on KVM-based platform or Microsoft Hyper-V with Failover Clustering preferred
- Experience with VMware Aria Operations or similar capacity/performance management tools, and hyper-converged hardware such as Dell VxRail or PowerFlex preferred
