Job Description

Senior Mechanical Engineer designing heavy machinery and mining infrastructure with SolidWorks. Managing Australian engineering projects from concept through fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end mechanical design, modeling, and detailing of heavy machinery, materials handling systems, and structural components using SolidWorks.
  • Manage full-lifecycle engineering projects from initial scoping and conceptual design through to fabrication, site installation, and commissioning.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations, structural analysis, and design verification to meet client operational requirements and safety regulations.
  • Interface directly with Australian clients, fabricators, and field engineers to manage project timelines, deliverables, and technical variations.
  • Produce comprehensive engineering documentation, including detail drawings, general arrangements, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and maintenance manuals.
  • Conduct Design Risk Assessments (Safety in Design/HAZOP) and ensure all fabrications align with strict quality and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience, ideally within heavy industry, mining, or machinery manufacturing.
  • Proven track record supporting Australian clients or working within Australian engineering standards and business environments.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks for complex 3D assembly modeling and detailed drafting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects from concept through execution with minimal oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS 1100, AS 4024, AS 3990) preferred.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS) preferred.
  • Hands-on field experience with mining equipment commissioning, maintenance, or troubleshooting preferred.
  • Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills preferred.
