Job Description
Senior Android Engineer architecting Kotlin apps for Xsolla, a global video-game commerce company. Driving Android releases, performance, payments, virtual currency, and AI-assisted engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain the native Android application in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Deliver features from technical design through release and post-launch iteration
- Own the Android release process, including signing, App Bundles, Play Console tracks, staged rollouts, pre-launch reports, and crash and ANR triage
- Implement Android development best practices, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD
- Integrate mini-apps, payments, and virtual currency systems into the Xsolla App ecosystem
- Collaborate with product, design, backend, QA, project management, iOS, and React Native teams
- Design scalable Android architecture focused on maintainability, performance, and developer experience
- Lead decisions on modularization, dependency injection, navigation, and state management
- Optimize Gradle builds and maintain a Compose component library and design system
- Establish coding standards, design patterns, and mobile best practices
- Create technical specifications and architecture documentation
- Drive mobile observability through structured logging, crash monitoring, performance tracing, and release health dashboards
- Use AI coding agents in daily workflows and establish practices for prompting, reviewing, verifying, evaluating, and governing AI-generated code
- Mentor engineers on AI-assisted development and Android engineering
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Kotlin
- Proven track record of shipping commercial Android applications currently live on Google Play
- Strong command of Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, Lifecycle, Room, WorkManager, and Navigation
- Strong understanding of MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, dependency injection, and state management
- Experience with JUnit, Compose UI tests, Espresso, Robolectric, and CI/CD for Android release pipelines
- Experience with Android Studio Profiler, Macrobenchmark, and Baseline Profiles
- Experience building for fragmented device and OS-version landscapes, including large-screen and foldable form factors
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven daily use of AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor
- Experience with third-party integrations, REST/GraphQL APIs, and mobile SDK consumption
- Strong problem-solving abilities and results-driven approach
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
