Job Description

Senior IAM Security Engineer designing automated identity controls for Providence, a comprehensive healthcare organization. Modernizing hybrid identity infrastructure toward Zero Trust and cloud security.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable IAM solutions across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
  • Drive modernization toward Zero Trust and cloud-based identity models
  • Engineer automated identity processes and workflows
  • Strengthen access governance and privileged access controls
  • Integrate AI-enabled capabilities to improve security and operational efficiency
  • Partner with cross-functional infrastructure, application, and security teams to assess and mitigate identity-related risks
  • Implement monitoring and automated response for identity threats
  • Research, evaluate, design, and recommend enterprise technical security solutions
  • Support technology evaluation and innovation
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support audit readiness
  • Establish identity security standards and best practices
  • Provide technical security assessment support and maintain effective information security programs
  • Work rotational on-call shifts to support availability, troubleshoot critical issues, and ensure continuity of IT operations
  • Work scheduled weekends and holidays as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • 5 years of related experience; 5–8 years preferred
  • Experience collaborating on security solution designs for TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, switching, routing, VoIP and telephony, firewalls and VPN, intrusion prevention systems, vulnerability assessment, and patch management tools
  • Functional experience designing security controls and countermeasures for operating systems, databases, applications, web services, user devices, and wireless networks
  • Flexibility to work a rotational on-call schedule
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • 6+ years of Identity and Access Management experience preferred
  • Experience supporting an enterprise environment with over 10,000 accounts preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • CISSP, CIAM, identity, or security-related certification upon hire preferred
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, NIST, and ISO frameworks preferred
  • Experience with hybrid Active Directory and cloud environments, including Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, preferred
  • Understanding of Zero Trust, least privilege access, and identity governance preferred
  • Experience with SAML, OAuth, OIDC, Kerberos, and LDAP preferred
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, and Microsoft Graph API preferred
  • Experience with Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, or similar orchestration tools preferred
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Security Copilot, or Claude Code preferred
  • Ability to evaluate technologies and translate business requirements into secure technical solutions
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
