Job Description
Senior backend/data engineer building high-volume telemetry pipelines and backend services for Blackpoint Cyber’s cybersecurity products. Operating scalable cloud-native systems that help detect and stop cyber-attacks.
Responsibilities:
- Own backend and data services end-to-end, from design and architecture through production operation
- Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and streaming ingestion for high-volume security telemetry
- Ensure reliability, low latency, and cost efficiency of data systems
- Contribute to data modeling and warehouse/lakehouse architecture decisions
- Deliver projects across TypeScript/Node.js, Python, and Go services hosted on Kubernetes
- Optimize systems for performance, scale, and resiliency
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups and mentor other engineers
- Communicate technical solutions and progress updates to leadership
- Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-powered tools and practices for development, testing, delivery, and observability
- Support Blackpoint Cyber’s cybersecurity mission by helping stop cyber-attacks and protect customers
Requirements:
- 5+ years of industry experience in backend and data engineering
- Strong programming skills in at least two of TypeScript/Node.js, Python, and Go
- Experience building and maintaining microservices architectures on Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with production ETL/ELT and streaming data pipelines
- Experience with workflow orchestration such as Airflow or Dagster
- Experience with stream processing such as Kafka Streams, Flink, or Spark
- Experience with data warehouse/lakehouse technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or S3 with Parquet/Iceberg
- Analytical data modeling for large datasets
- Database management, schema design, performance tuning, and indexing for large-scale distributed databases
- Experience with message- and event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar systems
- Expertise designing and consuming REST, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs
- Experience with pipeline testing, monitoring, alerting, and lineage
- Hands-on experience with Prometheus and Grafana
- Experience with AWS cloud-native technologies such as Lambda, S3, EKS/ECS, Kinesis, and SQS
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitLab
- Understanding of security best practices, sensitive data handling, and OAuth/JWT authentication and authorization
- Experience in a fast-paced startup and Agile development environment
- Experience leading sprint planning, breaking down initiatives, and aligning team efforts with business objectives
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code quality, security review, and architectural integrity
- Nice to have: security data at scale, Elasticsearch, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and LLM-based capabilities in production SaaS products
