Job Description
Senior Software Engineer designing and evolving risk systems for Shakepay. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance fraud prevention and customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve core risk systems and decision-making infrastructure
- Design and implement scalable backend services to support fraud prevention and compliance
- Improve data instrumentation and observability to enable reliable risk analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with data, security, compliance, and customer support teams to translate risk insights into effective controls
- Iterate on risk rules and frameworks to reduce false positives and false negatives
- Contribute to internal tools that support investigations and operational efficiency
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to defining the technical direction and best practices for the Risk team
- Work with a strong sense of ownership within a small, high-impact team
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Strong backend engineering experience, including designing and operating scalable systems
- Good understanding of system design, data flows, and performance optimization
- Experience working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous contexts with changing requirements
- Strong sense of ownership with a focus on business and customer impact
