Job Description
Senior videogame tester validating narrative RPG quality for Seismic Squirrel. Testing builds, fixes, hardware, and platforms while supporting QA processes and development teams.
Responsibilities:
- Test videogames for bugs and other quality deficiencies, supporting QA processes
- Validate enhancements and bug fixes
- Research and champion tools and processes that contribute to product quality
- Evaluate each sprint's build for quality regression
- Test games on various hardware and platforms
- Participate in developing, organizing, and executing Test Plans and Test Cases
- Create and contribute to product quality reports
- Represent the customer as an advocate for quality and value
- Provide feedback and creative solutions across design, programming, narrative, art, and audio
- Collaborate with the development team on progress and problems, timelines, and expectations
- Assist with internal and external testing efforts
- Balance and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, timeframes, and budgets
- Attend relevant team meetings, including daily scrums, retrospectives, sprint planning, and showcase meetings
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional experience testing narrative or turn-based videogames on PCs and consoles
- Understanding of videogame testing best practices
- Familiarity with many videogame titles and genres
- Familiarity with modern videogame UI and UX conventions
- Skilled in historical research
- Self-disciplined, motivated, and self-starting
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to work quickly or carefully as needed
- Able to give and receive constructive feedback
- Able to work effectively with varied personalities and backgrounds
- High emotional intelligence and cross-disciplinary professionalism
- Strong problem-solving and resourcefulness
- Able to balance and prioritize tasks within deadlines, timeframes, and budgets
- Adaptable and able to wear various hats
- Skilled at remote work using collaboration tools
- Strong written, visual, and verbal English communication and presentation skills
- Passion for the videogame industry
- Experience using Unity to test games within the engine
- Proficiency in productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
- Enthusiasm for learning new tools, technologies, and techniques
- Must reside in the USA or Canada within UTC-4 to UTC-8 timezones
- H-1B transfers and sponsorships are not available
