Job Description
Software Engineer building executive-ready Databricks applications for Data Elephant, a data and AI consultancy. Developing visualizations, applying AI/ML, and collaborating with client stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build an executive-ready application on Databricks Apps
- Translate stakeholder needs into a working product
- Build BI-style visualizations and reporting components for an executive audience
- Contribute product thinking to a prioritized use case backlog
- Help scope future implementation phases
- Participate in client workshops and weekly status reviews
- Communicate technical progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Apply AI/ML capabilities where relevant to enhance the application
Requirements:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, with some exposure to data engineering or data products
- Experience in full-stack development including APIs, CI/CD, and front-end tools such as React, NextJS or Typescript
- Experience building internal tools, dashboards, or applications on top of data platforms
- Databricks Apps experience is a strong plus
- Experience with low-code/no-code app frameworks such as Retool, Streamlit, or Power Apps is valuable
- Comfort working with BI tools; Power BI preferred
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and applying them in applied, product-oriented contexts
- Strong communication skills for a client-facing consulting role
- Applicants must be based in Canada
- Experience in energy, mining, or other industrial/resource sectors is a bonus
