Job Description
Software Engineer customizing Whitespace’s AI-driven Worldline platform for synthetic geospatial data simulation. Supporting AFRL research and development for national security missions.
Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, design, modify, write, implement, and test software for population simulation
- Work with customers and end users to define project requirements and create achievable timelines
- Collaborate across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support back-end technical solutions
- Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code, primarily in Java
- Recommend improvements to established application processes
- Prepare and produce software component releases
- Provide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions
- Consult with management and customers regarding product feasibility and product plans and designs
- Incorporate emerging technologies and product supportability into design and implementation
- Provide product demonstrations and participate in trade shows, seminars, industry panels, and user group meetings
- Interact with customers regarding strategies, requirements, problem-solving, and support
- Support a research and development project under the Air Force Research Laboratory
- Customize the Worldline platform for a special project involving synthetic, large-scale, geo-tagged data
Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI or eligibility to be cleared
- U.S. citizen
- Resides in the contiguous United States
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a software engineering role
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software
- Experience defining architecture requirements and establishing design and development standards
- Strong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability
- Programming experience with Java and Python
- Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes
- Experience with continuous integration and software configuration management tools/processes, including GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Nexus
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization
- Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
- Bachelor’s Degree is desired but not required; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Experience with population simulation or other data simulation
- Experience leading software development across government Modeling and Simulation environments
- Experience with geospatial engineering
- Experience with Big Data processing tools such as Spark/Hadoop, Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, and EMR
- Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure
- Strong data visualization skills
