Software Engineer building Kubernetes operators and APIs for MongoDB’s cloud-native data platform. Delivering developer-facing infrastructure capabilities from design through production.
Responsibilities:
- Join the Kubernetes Capabilities squad
- Decide which MongoDB capabilities users get on Kubernetes and how they work
- Lead the design and delivery of new capabilities in Kubernetes operators, from technical design through production support
- Work with Product and MongoDB feature teams to turn features into Kubernetes-native APIs
- Write technical designs, weigh trade-offs, and guide stakeholders to decisions
- Shape predictable, self-service, and safe-to-operate platform APIs
- Mentor engineers through pairing, code review, and design feedback
- Partner with the platform squad, Support, Docs, and other engineering teams
- Help resolve complex customer issues
- Improve testing strategy, release quality, and developer experience
Requirements:
- Several years building production software in a modern language; the team mostly uses Go
- Proven experience building a platform for other engineers, such as Kubernetes controllers and operators, an internal developer platform, or developer-facing infrastructure products
- Deep working knowledge of Kubernetes, including its API model, reconciliation, and the operational realities of running workloads on it
- Experience designing, testing, and operating distributed systems in production
- Track record of leading projects through ambiguity and delivering them end to end
- Strong written communication, including technical design documents
- No prior MongoDB experience required
- Experience with controller-runtime, kubebuilder, or contributing to Kubernetes ecosystem projects (nice to have)
- Experience with multi-cluster Kubernetes, networking, or service mesh (nice to have)
- Experience running stateful workloads or databases on Kubernetes (nice to have)
- Experience with a major public cloud provider (nice to have)
Benefits:
- Generous compensation package including top-range salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits
- Time to learn on the job and grow into new technologies

- Employee affinity groups
- Fertility assistance
- Generous parental leave policy
- Disability accommodations during the application and interview process
