Job Description

Software Quality Engineering Manager leading SDET teams and AI-native testing for Unifonic’s customer experience platform. Owning automation, release quality, and testing strategy across web, mobile, and agentic products.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of SDETs, including hiring, performance management, and career development
  • Support multiple scrum delivery teams with estimation, planning, and testing strategy for web and mobile applications
  • Own the release management process across products
  • Own test case coverage, test and defect reporting, and quality metrics
  • Establish and scale automated testing frameworks for UI and API test automation
  • Advocate for QA best practices across development and engineering teams
  • Establish lightweight checks and balances to prevent regressions and production issues
  • Define and evolve QA practices for AI-native features, including validation of LLM and agent outputs and testing of agentic workflows
  • Organize and lead engineering special initiatives, including process improvement, tool investigation and qualification, and development of test frameworks and techniques
  • Report to the Senior Products Director and work closely with them to execute the test strategy

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant development or testing experience
  • 7+ years in quality roles testing and automating large-scale, customer-facing systems with sophisticated distributed integrations
  • 3+ years managing SDETs responsible for qualifying features through the complete software development lifecycle
  • Excellent knowledge of QE automation architecture, methodologies, processes, and tools
  • Hands-on experience building QE automation frameworks for frontend and backend applications, including tools such as Cucumber, Selenium, Rest Assured, TestNG, and SOAPUI
  • Experience creating multiple test frameworks from scratch
  • Proficiency in Java or Python
  • Familiarity with databases, SQL, and scripting languages
  • Understanding of REST and RESTful services
  • Experience working with remote and distributed teams
  • Experience working on Agile Scrum teams
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams
  • Ability to drive efficiency through process improvement and automation, increase test coverage, reduce customer-impacting defects, make risk-based decisions, and mentor engineers
  • Ability to build, drive, and support an automation test strategy
  • Advanced AI proficiency at minimum Level L5, applying AI across QA, test automation, defect analysis, test data generation, and quality-risk assessment
  • Experience using AI to generate and expand test cases, accelerate automation development and debugging, analyze logs and defects, generate edge-case test data, and evaluate coverage and release-quality metrics
  • Strong understanding of testing AI/agent-based features, including hallucination detection, grounding, guardrails, fallback behavior, and prompt-injection resistance
  • Experience with tools such as Claude is required
  • AI-generated outputs must be critically reviewed and validated before use in testing or release decisions
  • Knowledge of software quality engineering, engineering management, test automation, API and UI testing, AI-native quality engineering, release management, Agile software delivery, DevOps and CI/CD, cloud and container technologies, quality strategy and process improvement, and leadership and people management
