Job Description
Virtual Special Education Instructor delivering IEP-based K–12 instruction for Maine students. Parallel connects learners with specialized educational and clinical support across the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Provide virtual instruction to K–12 students in Maine
- Provide legally compliant specially designed instruction and compensatory education services when indicated
- Develop and execute data-driven, individualized lesson plans
- Target reading and literacy, foundational math, executive functioning, organizational strategies, and functional/adaptive life skills
- Create, manage, and monitor student IEPs, including case management
- Collaborate with students' IEP teams to coordinate service schedules and tailor instruction
- Administer screenings and conduct progress monitoring
- Complete formal outcomes assessments to guide instructional decisions
Requirements:
- Active Special Education teaching license/certification
- School-based experience providing specially designed instruction
- Experience working effectively with diverse student populations
- Exceptional collaborative communication skills for engaging with IEP teams, teachers, parents, and students
- Proficiency in conducting virtual services using meeting platforms
- Strong command of instructional technology
- Dedicated, private workspace
- Secure, high-speed internet connection
- Reliable computer and webcam
- Availability during typical school hours, approximately 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday
- Flexibility to accommodate student schedules and service needs
- For high school services, flexibility to accommodate block or alternating A/B schedules
