Job Description
Store Designer creating retail layouts and architectural construction documents for VSP Vision. Ensuring store designs meet operational needs, accessibility guidelines, and construction codes.
Responsibilities:
- Review landlord information and site surveys to create store layouts that optimize space and meet company design guidelines
- Create preliminary floor plans from as-builts, site surveys, and CAD files while meeting store design standards and governing building codes
- Present floor plans to the internal store development team and address Store Operations, Doctor Operations, Marketing, IT, and Merchandise needs
- Incorporate feedback into preliminary plans while complying with construction codes
- Provide consultants with final floor plan designs and necessary information for construction documents
- Review construction documents for design integrity and site-specific requirements
- Develop and produce complete architectural construction documents meeting governing construction codes
- Coordinate design intent with the SME Engineer
- Communicate with city officials and permit expeditors during plan review
- Meet with buyers to validate store purchasing needs
- Develop sub-lease and evacuation plans in accordance with fire code and corporate specifications
- Manage project stages, deadlines, updates, and changes with cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years work experience in chain retail store design and/or CAD design
- Ability to create, read, understand and interpret construction documents as well as architectural and engineering drawings
- Working knowledge of governing construction codes and accessibility design guidelines (ADA, ANSI, Title 24, etc.)
- Skilled in architectural design programs (Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think logically and problem solve
- Efficient time management skills to handle multiple projects at one time
- Ability to initiate immediate interaction, coordination, and collaboration with team members and business partners
- For remote roles, must demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings
- Must comply with pre-employment substance abuse testing
