Job Description
Virtual tutor supporting low-income students through UPchieve’s free online tutoring and college counseling platform. Providing one-on-one academic help across multiple subjects remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Tutor students one-on-one through UPchieve’s virtual classroom using text chat and a shared whiteboard
- Get certified in three or more UPchieve subjects
- Provide academic support in math, science, reading and writing, English, social studies and history, and college prep
- Complete UPchieve’s tutor training and apply feedback
- Provide encouraging, student-centered support
- Adhere to Liberty University policies and represent the University exemplarily
- Work effectively as a team member while supporting Liberty University’s Christian model and mission
- Work remotely with a computer and strong internet connection
Requirements:
- Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at Liberty University
- Federal Work Study eligibility
- Availability of 5 to 10 hours per week
- Must pass required background checks
- Must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan
- Must not have disqualifying convictions or findings involving government funds
- At least a second-year student at Liberty University preferred
- Must be in good standing; no reprimands or suspensions preferred
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
- Ability to adhere to federal, state, and institutional policies, confidentiality, and recordkeeping requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English
- Ability to learn technology quickly
- Ability to work under pressure, follow written instructions, and take initiative
- Self-discipline and time-management skills
- Ability to reason, analyze information, apply judgment, and solve routine and complex problems
- Computer with a strong internet connection
